New Delhi : Union Education Minister and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said that India is focusing on setting up infrastructure for skill-based learning. Unveiling the digital version of employability skills curriculum for students enrolled in India’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at the Future Skills Forum in New Delhi, Dharmendra Pradhan said India is focusing on establishing a skill-based learning infrastructure. which promotes knowledge-based learning among the students. It is extremely important that we rethink lifelong learning in the context of ongoing changes and build a strong digital infrastructure, which will contribute to creating a future-ready workforce.
The Future Skills Forum is an initiative of the Future Right Skills Network (FRSN), a collaborative effort of Quest Alliance, Accenture, Cisco and JP Morgan. It brings together government skill training institutions, civil society organizations, industry and corporate social responsibility partners to help youth acquire critical skills for the future. Digital lessons include modules on financial and digital literacy, diversity and inclusion, career development, goal setting and entrepreneurship. These are drawn from the Advanced ES syllabus, which was launched by MSDE in September 2022.
What is the module of the course
Other speakers on the occasion said that with an aim to meet the need of anytime, anywhere learning, these modules will be accessible to 2.5 million learners through the Government of India’s IndiaSkills Portal as well as other platforms. Developed with active industry input, the curriculum comprises 12 modules in a bite-sized, gamified format and is assessed after each lesson. It is designed to help students assess the depth of their learning. The storytelling approach in the module provides students with relatable scenarios that they can apply to real-world situations.
Digital lessons useful for students
Akash Sethi, CEO of Quest Alliance, said that digital lessons would be extremely useful for the learners. He said that the youth are attracted to technology, which provides them a place to learn and re-learn skills. They will need this for the future. Therefore it is imperative that any stakeholder working with youth livelihoods understands this changing scenario. Digital lessons will be instrumental in introducing innovative pedagogic models such as blended learning in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), which will empower teachers to build and lead 21st century classrooms.
