The first Vande Bharat train in the country was run from Delhi to Varanasi. The second such train was started between Delhi to Katra. These states have not got Vande Bharat
Railways had talked about running 75 Vande Bharat trains on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, but till now only 14 trains have run. Although the Railways has not officially given any statement in this regard so far. Punjab government has demanded to run Vande Bharat train from Amritsar and Jalandhar to Delhi. Even in Odisha, no Vande Bharat train has run so far, while Vande Bharat train has run in its neighboring states of West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, Uttarakhand too has not got Vande Bharat train yet. No Vande Bharat Express has been run for the Northeast till now.

Expressing unhappiness over the pace of production of Vande Bharat trains, a parliamentary committee recently said that against the target of 35 rakes for the year 2023, only eight rakes have been manufactured. This was stated in the report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Railways headed by BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh. This report was tabled in both the Houses of Parliament. In the report, the committee noted that during the budget speech for the year 2022-23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced 400 Vande Bharat trains. The Committee was informed that the Railways has planned to manufacture 400 Vande Bharat rakes in a phased manner. Marathwada Rail Coach Factory will manufacture 120 rakes, Chennai Factory 80, Sonipat Factory 100 and Modern Coach Factory Rae Bareli 100 rakes.
