Welspun to foray into children’s products through tie-up with Walt Disney

New Delhi: Home textiles company Welspun India is looking to enter the children’s products category through a license agreement with The Walt Disney Company. Dipali Goenka, Chief Executive Officer and Joint Managing Director, Welspun said this. The company had in January this year entered into a brand license agreement with Walt Disney for the European and UK markets. Goenka said that ‘even if there is a recession, people will not compromise with the demands of the children. There are immense opportunities in the children’s products sector. Whether it is recession or boom, demand is not affected.
The agreement grants Welspun the right to design, develop, manufacture and distribute such products to use Disney franchises and characters, including the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucas brands, in home textile products. Keyur Parekh, President & Global Head, Welspun India, said the association with Walt Disney marks the beginning of Welspun’s journey into a new children’s category. He informed that the duration of the existing license is three years and it is for the European Union countries, UK and South African markets.
