Brent crude was up 33 cents, or 0.4 per cent, at $78 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude was up 35 cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $73.34. Last week, the price of crude had increased by 4.5 percent. Saudi Arabia and Russia have decided to cut the supply of crude oil from August. This has increased the price of oil. Along with this, the US dollar has also reached its lowest level in two months. A weaker dollar makes oil cheaper for other currency holders. Because of this the price of oil has gone up.
Meanwhile, once again there was no change in the price of petrol and diesel in India. Oil marketing companies last changed the price of petrol and diesel in April last year. In May, the Center reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel. Since then there has been no change in the price of petrol and diesel in the country. Petrol cost Rs 96.72 and diesel Rs 89.62 per liter in Delhi on Tuesday. At one point in March last year, the price of crude oil reached $139 a barrel, its highest level since 2008, after the war between Russia and Ukraine.
