In fact, Pakistan has announced that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting to be held in India next month. Earlier, it was believed that Pakistan could stay away from the SCO meeting or join the meeting through online medium, but now Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch has announced in her weekly press conference that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will visit India’s Goa. Will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting to be held on May 4-5, 2023. This put an end to weeks of speculation as to whether Bilawal Bhutto would personally attend the conference. Mumtaz Zehra Baloch, while confirming Bilawal’s visit to India, has also said that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Indian Foreign Minister S.K. Will attend the conference on Jaishankar’s invitation. “Our participation in the meeting reflects Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO charter and procedures and the importance accorded to the region in Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities,” Baloch said.

As far as SCO is concerned, let us tell you that it was established in Shanghai in 2001 at the summit of the Presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In later years it emerged as one of the largest regional organisations. India and Pakistan became permanent members of the China-based SCO in 2017.
