Gender equality: To ensure that there is no gender-based discrimination at the workplace and that men and women get equal pay for the same work, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that an audit should be conducted. Although this decision has been taken keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, there is no doubt that it will be beneficial for women.
Gender equality: Jobs should be suitable for women
While addressing the ‘Face to Face Programme’, the Chief Minister said that jobs should be favorable for women. He said, till some time ago the emphasis was only on educating women. But they also need to be convinced of the need to participate in the workforce now. Jobs should be made favorable for women. For this, gender based audit will be conducted at the workplace and equal pay will be ensured.
Highlighting the women-friendly policies made by his government in the state, Vijayan said, Kerala has become a model in the country by making arrangements for menstrual leave for girl students in all the state universities under the Department of Higher Educational Institutions.

Gender equality: Highest participation of women in higher education
The Chief Minister said that according to the National Survey on Higher Education, Kerala has the highest participation of women in higher education. He told that now his stance is how to add more women to this organized workforce. Vijayan underlined that Kerala was the first state to implement gender budgeting for women in local bodies in 1997.
