san francisco (Uttam Hindu News): Google-owned YouTube has unveiled a new look for creators’ channels on its TV app with the goal of improving user experience and making content more accessible on the big screen.
New features include a more modern layout, improved action buttons and the ability to play a mix of video content.
YouTube announced the changes to creators’ pages in its video, saying the update focuses on offering a more immersive layout and easier access to subscriptions.
The new design launches against the backdrop of new data from the company which revealed that the number of top creators who get the majority of their watch time on TV has increased by more than 400 per cent over the past three years.
“Viewers want everything in one place, from live sports games to the BBC to Khan Academy and Nicki tutorials,” YouTube CEO Neil Mohan said in a blogpost. “And they are watching YouTube the same way we used to sit together for traditional TV shows – with friends and family on the biggest screen in the house.”
According to the company, views of YouTube Shorts on connected TV have increased by more than 100 percent from January to September 2023.
The company also said that viewers globally now watch an average of more than a billion hours of YouTube content on their TVs every day.
Nielsen, the global leader in insights, data and analytics, has named YouTube as the number one streaming platform in the US by viewing time for a full year.
