Sana (Best Hindu News): A fire destroyed 11 homes in a camp for displaced people in western Yemen on Wednesday. Al-Maseera TV has given this information. According to a Houthi official, the fire was caused by fireworks set off during celebrations on the Eid al-Adha festival in Al-Kanawis district of Hodeidah province. The fire burned furniture, food, and livestock, but no one was injured.
The official said that financial assistance has been provided to the affected families. He also underlined the urgent need for intervention to secure new housing for these families and provide necessary support. According to the United Nations, the conflict has forced 4.5 million Yemenis, or 14 percent of the population, to flee their homes.
About 66 percent of those displaced live in dangerous places, where there is widespread food insecurity and a lack of basic services. Yemen has been mired in civil war since the end of 2014 and the country has reached the brink of starvation.
