Eight members of a nomadic family, including women and children, were killed when a speeding oil tanker hit them in Lodhran district, about 350 km from Lahore, on Monday, according to ‘Rescue 1122’. Several members of the family were sleeping in their huts at the time of the accident. Eight people died on the spot and four were injured. Rescue 1122 said the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle after a tire burst. The driver of the vehicle fled after the accident. A case has been registered against him.
In another incident, seven members of a family were killed when a bus and a car collided at Okara, about 130 km from Lahore. ‘Rescue 1122’ said a Lahore-bound bus hit a car in Okara while trying to avoid colliding with an auto rickshaw. The accident was so fatal that the car was completely crushed and the occupants, Muhammad Sajid, his wife, his two minor daughters, his mother and two nephews died on the spot. The bus driver has been arrested.
