2 people killed in firing on Pakistan Afghanistan border

Kabul (Uttam Hindu News): At least two people, including a 12-year-old child, have been killed and at least one person injured in firing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Pakistani Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) gave this information on Wednesday. Pakistan’s newspaper Dawn said in a statement quoting ISPR that “On October 04 at 4 pm, an incident took place near Chaman Border Crossing on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan. “An Afghan sentry working at the Friendship Gate opened unprovoked and indiscriminate fire on pedestrians crossing from Pakistan to Afghanistan.” Two people, including a child, have died and a child has been injured in the firing.

ISPR said the injured child was immediately rescued by security forces and taken to hospital for treatment. The statement said Afghan authorities have already been contacted to “inquire the reason for such an irresponsible and reckless act, arrest the culprit and hand him over to Pakistani authorities.” ISPR also said that authorities in Afghanistan were expected to “exercise control over their troops and provide discipline to act responsibly to avoid recurrence of such incidents in the future.”
He said that “Pakistan is committed to contributing to peace, prosperity and development.”
