Ottawa (Best Hindu News): Eight people, including two children, were found dead on the banks of the St. Lawrence River near the Canada-US border after trying to enter the United States illegally. Five Indians are included in this. Officials said their bodies were found near the sunken boat. The dead bodies are being told of two families. In this, one family was Indian, while the other family was of Romania origin, from whom Canadian passport has been recovered. On the other hand, the Canadian Police has started investigation in the matter.
Local police chief Sean Dulude said a total of eight bodies had now been recovered from the water. This includes 6 adults and 2 children. The bodies of the first 6 people were recovered on Thursday late evening. Two people whose bodies were found later include a Romanian-origin infant and an Indian woman. Canadian authorities believe all were attempting to enter the United States illegally from Canada.
Mohawk tribal territory extends into the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario and the US state of New York. It is suspected that bad weather conditions including rain, hail and strong wind may have caused the boat to capsize, leading to the death of those on board. However, the post mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while talking to reporters said that our thoughts are with the families of those killed. This is a heartbreaking situation.
