Taking their ties to a new level, the two countries entered into a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ and signed key agreements, including a landmark deal for reciprocal access to military bases, in the backdrop of their cooling ties with China. Dutton is a member of the Liberal Party of Australia. After the meeting, Dutton tweeted, “Wonderful to be reunited with a close friend from Australia, @narendramodi. Australia is proud of the special and growing relationship with India and may it only grow stronger in the years to come.
