Rs 12 lakh per month spent on security of Imran Khan in jail

Islamabad: The security of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail in Pakistan, is costing Rs 12 lakh every month. According to the report submitted by the jail authorities in the Lahore High Court, 71-year-old Khan has been provided special facilities inside the jail premises, including a separate CCTV system at a cost of Rs 5 lakh. This is separate from the system that monitors 7,000 prisoners. Khan’s food is cooked in a separate kitchen under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent and the food is examined by the Medical Officer or Deputy Superintendent before it is served.

A team of more than 6 doctors from ‘Holy Family Hospital’ is present there to examine and treat the health of the former Prime Minister. Apart from this, an expert team examines them regularly. Khan has 2 of the 7 special cells while 5 other cells have been kept closed due to security reasons. About 35 prisoners are kept in these cells. Access to Khan’s cell is limited, permission is required to enter, and professionally trained personnel are employed to ensure the security of his ward. There are 15 personnel involved in Khan’s security, including 2 security officers and 3 for his personal security.
