The Canadian Forces will be represented by its deputy commander, Major General Peter Scott, at the two-day event beginning on September 26.
The Canadian Army will participate in the upcoming Indo-Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference (IPACC) in Delhi and the diplomatic row with that country will not affect its participation in the multilateral conference, a senior Indian Army officer said on Wednesday. The conference will bring together top military leaders from 30 countries to enhance cooperation and understanding in the Indo-Pacific with the goal of promoting peace, security and prosperity across the region.
The Canadian Forces will be represented by its deputy commander, Major General Peter Scott, at the two-day event beginning on September 26. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the inauguration ceremony. About 20 services will be represented by their chiefs and non-commissioned officers will also participate. Major General Abhinay Rai, Additional Director General of Strategic Planning, said the diplomatic row with Canada will have no impact on its military’s participation in the conference and the country is an important partner in the IPACC visit.
Rai said at the inauguration ceremony of the conference that it has no impact on us. The Canadian (deputy) premier is coming here. Their delegation is coming here. Even when we look at relations with some of our neighbors where we may have a standoff but we continue to interact with them at all levels, be it military level or diplomatic level. And I am directly referring to China here.
