China According to the news received from the South-to-North Water Transition Project Group of the United States, a total of 60 billion cubic meters of water has been transported since 2014 as of 6 am on February 5. It is calculated based on the Yellow River’s annual average natural runoff of 58 billion cubic meters, which is equivalent to moving more water than the Yellow River for one year in the northern region.
In the more than eight years since it was implemented, the water transferred from south to north China has benefited more than 280 counties and districts in 42 large and medium-sized cities along the east and central water transmission lines. More than 15 crore people have been directly benefitted. It has huge economic, social and natural benefits. So far the project is running safely and smoothly, and the equipment and facilities are operating normally. Water quality in the central part of the project continues to exceed surface water class-2 standards, and water quality in the eastern part continues to maintain surface water class-3 standards.
