Adani Enterprises to be removed from Dow Jones’ ‘Sustainability Index’

New Delhi : S&P Dow Jones has said it will remove Adani Group company Adani Enterprises from its sustainability index with effect from February 7. Dow Jones has taken this decision in the wake of three Adani Group companies including Adani Enterprises coming under the short-term Additional Monitoring System (ASM) of stock exchanges BSE and NSE.
According to the information received from both the major stock exchanges of the country on Thursday, apart from Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports & SEZ and Ambuja Cements have also come under the ASM format. In a statement, S&P Dow Jones Indices said, “Adani Enterprises will be removed from the Dow Jones Sustainability Index following media and shareholder analysis in the backdrop of allegations of accounting impropriety.”
Shares of Adani Enterprises were trading down 15 per cent in early trade on Friday. There was a big fall in the shares of the company on Wednesday and Thursday as well. In the last six trading sessions, ten listed companies of Adani Group have incurred a total loss of more than Rs 8.76 lakh crore.
