New Delhi: Investor sentiment on Wall Street was mixed overnight. The Nasdaq Composite Index ended the session higher while other major indices declined. Asian markets were trading with volatility and showed a similar trend. Despite the fall, there has been a boom in metal and information technology stocks. These stocks have seen strong gains. BSE Metal has been the best performer today with a gain of 1.5%. Tata Steel and Jindal Steel & Power have done better. At the same time, both real estate and utilities suffered significant losses.

At 10:40 am, the BSE Sensex was up 0.23% at 59,883. The Nifty 50 index rose 0.21% to reach the level of 17,591. On Sensex, Tata Steel, ITC Ltd and Tata Consultancy Services were the top gainers. Whereas Asian Paints, HDFC Bank and HDFC Markets were the draggers. The advance-decline ratio remained in favor of the advance, with 1,685 scrips rising and 1,405 scrips declining on the BSE. Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd. has been the BSE Smallcap gainer today. The metals sector climbed over 10% today showing strength. Shares of Everest Kanto Cylinder and Usha Martin Limited have also seen heavy buying. Today these penny stocks have touched the upper circuit.
