Kolkata: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will conduct a study for the development of economic corridors in West Bengal. According to an official statement, it has entered into an agreement with the state government for this. ADB is eager to support the projects with technical expertise and financing, according to the statement.

The government said in a statement on Friday that the study aims to formulate a strategy for economic growth in growth centers like Andal-Panagarh, Kharagpur-Golatore-Salboni and Siliguri, Dankuni and Kalyani by linking urban, industrial, logistics, skills, energy and social sectors. Is. According to the statement, ADB has worked on several landmark projects, including the study of the East Coast Economic Corridor and the Bangladesh Corridor.

Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi held a meeting with major industries on the Industrial and Economic Corridor project. The meeting was attended by senior representatives of ADB, consulting firm Deloitte, industry body FICCI and industrial parks along the identified corridors.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while recently announcing the Industrial and Economic Corridor Policy, had said that the government is planning to develop three corridors in southern West Bengal – Dankuni-Kalyani, Tajpur-Raghunathpur and Dankuni-Jhargram and another spanning the northern districts from Panagarh to Cooch Behar. There are plans to develop and upgrade the corridor.
