Chennai: Bangladesh vice-captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto said his top-order batsmen will have to show more responsibility if their team wants to keep its World Cup hopes alive. Bangladesh has played three matches in the World Cup so far, out of which it had to face defeat in two matches. They had lost to New Zealand by eight wickets here on Friday.

They defeated Afghanistan in a low-scoring match but then had to face a crushing defeat by England by 137 runs. Even against New Zealand, his team was able to score only 245 runs for 9 wickets. The Kiwi team won by losing two wickets in the 43rd over. “We always make strategies on how to bat, but we have to show more responsibility in batting,” Nazmul said in the press conference after the match.

Top-order batsmen always face challenges, especially when the ball is new. He, however, expressed hope that his team would be successful in making a comeback. Nazmul said, “Surely we can return from here.” We just have to defend our bowlers and give good scores. It is more important to know how well we are playing than to think about what we have to do.
