Agreements signed in Andhra Pradesh Investors Summit will create six lakh jobs: Jagan

Addressing the concluding session of the two-day Investors’ Summit here, the Chief Minister said that a monitoring committee would be formed to ensure the implementation of the investment agreements signed in the conference.

During the Andhra Pradesh Global Investors Summit, agreements worth Rs 13.05 lakh crore have been signed, which are expected to provide employment to about six lakh people. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave this information on Saturday. Addressing the concluding session of the two-day Investors’ Summit here, the Chief Minister said that a monitoring committee would be formed to ensure the implementation of the investment agreements signed in the conference.

Apart from the Chief Secretary of the State, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) officers and Special Chief Secretary (Industries) will also be included in this committee. He said that 352 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed in 20 sectors during the Investors Summit. Of these, 40 agreements worth Rs 8.84 lakh crore were signed in the energy sector alone, which is expected to provide employment to 1.9 lakh people. Reddy said, “56 MoUs with an investment of Rs 25,587 crore were signed in the IT and ITES sector, which will provide employment to 1,04,442 people.

On the other hand, 117 agreements worth Rs 22,096 crore were signed in the tourism sector, which will provide employment to 30,787 people. He informed that significant investment has also been made in the renewable energy sector. These will boost the country’s commitment to achieving zero emission targets. The Chief Minister requested the companies that have expressed their intention to invest, to implement these proposals soon.

We are committed to speedy and seamless process of converting these MoUs into implementable investments, he added. Drug maker Hetero Group has also announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore for the expansion of the pharma and allied industry. Vamsi Krishna Bandi, Managing Director of the group, said that in the post-Corona era, many countries are looking at India as their partner in the pharma sector and Andhra Pradesh is ideal for this because of its well-established ecosystem.
