Akasa Air has made a big splash in the aircraft industry in the beginning of the year 2024. The company placed an order for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft on Thursday. The less than two-year-old airline wants to expand its domestic and international operations, under which this order has been given.

The airline said in a statement that the latest order, which includes 737 Max 10 and 737 Max 8-200 jets, will provide the airline with a continuous supply of aircraft till 2032. This will strengthen the company’s domestic and international expansion plans.

Akasa Air had placed an initial order for 72 Boeing 737 Max aircraft in 2021. After this, the company ordered four Boeing 737 Max-8 aircraft in June 2023. The statement said that with this latest deal for January 2024, the total order book of the airline has increased to 226 aircraft.

Akasa Air currently operates a fleet of 22 aircraft and will acquire a total of 204 aircraft over the next eight years. The airline’s founder and CEO Vinay Dubey said that this large and historic aircraft order will help the airline to be among the top 30 leading airlines in the world by the end of this decade.
