New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is keeping a strict eye on the airline companies these days. Under this, on Wednesday DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh each on Air India and SpiceJet. An officer gave this information. According to the information, DGCA has taken this step in view of the flaws in the pilot’s ‘duty chart’ for operating flights in low-visibility conditions. He said that after analyzing the data related to flight delays, cancellations, diversions submitted by the airlines in respect of flights scheduled for December 2023, the DGCA found that Air India and SpiceJet have “utilized CAT II for certain flights”. Or three more LVTO qualified pilots not included in the list.
CAT two or three deals with operations of flights in low visibility conditions. LVTO refers to flying in low visibility. According to two orders issued by the GCA, a fine of Rs 30 lakh each has been imposed on Air India and SpiceJet. Earlier, the DGCA had issued a show cause notice to Air India and SpiceJet for not deploying trained pilots to operate in low visibility conditions, diverting routes of various flights amid dense fog at Delhi airport in late December. Notice was issued.
Let us inform that a total fine of Rs 1.80 crore has been imposed on IndiGo and Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) for the incident of passengers eating food on the tarmac at the airport on Wednesday. According to the order, a fine of Rs 1.20 crore has been imposed on IndiGo while Rs 60 lakh has been imposed on MIAL. On Sunday, as soon as the flight from Goa to Delhi landed in Mumbai, many passengers came out of the IndiGo plane and sat on the runway and some were also seen eating food there. The regulator issued show cause notices to IndiGo and MIAL. It was said that they were not proactive in anticipating the situation and providing proper facilities to the passengers at the airport.
Due to dense fog during December 25-28 last year, flight operations at Delhi airport were significantly affected and routes of around 60 flights of various airlines were diverted.
