Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘MY’ will spoil Mayawati’s ‘DM’ game

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was continuously spewing ‘venom’ against Bahujan Samaj Party and its supremo Mayawati, which Behenji was silently collecting, perhaps she might be waiting for the right time. This pitch is of Muslim vote bank on which SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is very proud, but BSP is preparing to break into Samajwadi Party’s MY (Muslim-Yadav) vote bank by fielding Muslim candidates on five out of seven seats for the Lok Sabha elections. Have done. Let us tell you that even though there is a huge enmity between SP and BSP today, both of them had fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections together. Of its 10 MPs who reached Parliament in 2019, three were Muslims. This time BSP’s strategy is indicating harm to the SP-Congress alliance. One move of the BSP supremo has fulfilled the saying ‘one hundred goldsmiths, one blacksmith’.

In fact, the party has started announcing candidates in Muslim dominated seats of Western UP under this strategy. Of its seven candidates announced so far, five are Muslims. The surprising thing is that BSP seems to be in no mood to give ticket to any of its sitting MPs. At present, Vijendra Singh has been declared the candidate in place of Bijnor MP Malook Nagar, who has expressed his faith with the party. He will face RLD’s Chandan Chauhan. That means Jats and Gurjars are in the fray here, Congress-SP candidates are yet to be declared. On the other hand, Dr. Mujahid Hussain has been made the candidate in place of Amroha MP Danish Ali, who is going to the Congress camp. Congress can give ticket to Saharanpur BSP MP Haji Fazlur Rahman, hence BSP has declared Majid Ali as its candidate. At the same time, BSP has declared Dara Singh Prajapati as its candidate for Muzaffarnagar seat in Western UP. Similarly, Irfan Saifi has been declared candidate in Moradabad and Anees Ahmed Khan has been declared candidate in Pilibhit. Akil Ahmed Patta has been made the candidate for Kannauj seat. BJP’s Subrata Pathak is in the fray on this seat, while there is talk of SP President Akhilesh Yadav also contesting elections from here, which is no less than an alarm bell for him.

Not only this, BSP is also making inroads in NDA, due to which Lok Dal has got a big blow. In fact, RLD’s National General Secretary Chaudhary Vijendra Singh has surprised everyone by suddenly leaving the party before the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Before this he was engaged in spreading Lok Dal. He has left Lok Dal and joined BSP. He announced his joining BSP at the workers conference in Bijnor on Tuesday. In this worker conference, BSP’s West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in-charge Shamshuddin Rain announced Chaudhary Vijendra Singh’s membership of BSP. Mayawati has announced to make Chaudhary Vijendra Singh the Bijnor Lok Sabha candidate. He further said that sister ji was the first to reach Parliament by winning from Bijnor seat. Chaudhary Vijendra Singh has served the public through his hospitals and educational institutions. Keeping this in view, sister Mayawati has decided to make him the Bijnor Lok Sabha candidate. In a day or two, BSP may announce the Lok Sabha ticket from Bijnor seat to Chaudhary Vijendra Singh. Bijnor District President Dalip Kumar had informed that party chief sister Mayawati will give him the Lok Sabha ticket in a day or two. Chaudhary Vijendra Singh said that farmers, labourers, poor and all backward castes including exploited and deprived people will work to get their rights.

Before Choudhary joined BSP, the victory of BJP-ALD alliance here was considered certain. Under the alliance of both, RLD MLA Chandan Chauhan was declared the candidate from Bijnor seat. Chaudhary Vijendra Singh also had an eye on capturing Jat votes, who was working with the aim of making Lok Dal win. But due to the change in the equation of this seat after the alliance with BJP, Chaudhary Vijendra Singh changed his path and joined BSP. Now that BSP has made Chaudhary Vijendra Singh its candidate from Bijnor seat, there is a possibility of an electoral battle between the BJP-RLD alliance and BSP.

Overall, BSP may not get any benefit from Mayawati giving ticket to Muslim candidate but it can definitely cause loss to SP. If we look at the last by-election of Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat, SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav had to face defeat only because BSP’s Muslim candidate Guddu Jamali had got the ticket in front of him. BJP candidate had won in this by-election. Now Jamali is definitely in SP and the party has elected him as Legislative Council member.

Let us tell you that it has been seen in many elections that due to BSP fielding Muslim candidates, SP’s M-Y formula fails to some extent. Muslim candidates of BSP become a big obstacle for the victory of SP. Mayawati has been focusing on Muslims as per her strategy. She constantly tries to explain that BJP can be defeated if Dalits and Muslims come together. Talking about the last assembly elections, only one BSP candidate had won. In the 2022 assembly elections, Umashankar Singh had won from Rasra seat of Ballia district. BSP had to face defeat on all other assembly seats. Now Mayawati has once again placed her bet on Muslim faces in this Lok Sabha election. It will be interesting to see how successful Mayawati’s strategy is in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024. It seems that BSP supremo Mayawati has decided that to destroy the MY (Muslim-Yadav) vote bank of Samajwadi Party, she will have to strengthen the DM (Dalit-Muslim). Dalits are not only with BSP, but to woo Muslims, Mayawati is making a strategy to field Muslim candidates on a large scale.
