san francisco (Uttam Hindu News): Amazon has said that it is laying off about 5 percent of the employees in its Buy With Prime unit.
The layoffs will include about 30 employees at the unit, CNBC reported. However, it is not known how many employees it has in its Buy With Prime division.
An Amazon spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We regularly review the structure of our teams and make adjustments based on business needs and following a recent review, we have eliminated some roles in our Buy with Prime team.” Have taken a difficult decision to do.”
The spokesperson said Buy with Prime is a priority for Amazon and the company plans to continue investing significant resources in the program.
Buy with Prime service lets online stores offer two-day shipping to Prime subscribers.
According to the report, citing sources, some of the employees affected by the layoffs worked in Amazon’s multichannel unit, which sits alongside ‘Buy with Prime’ under the Project Santos organization.
Amazon said it is helping laid-off employees find new positions elsewhere within the company.
Employees will continue to receive their salaries and benefits for at least 60 days and will be eligible for a severance package, the report said.
Last week, Amazon-owned audiobooks and podcasts division Audible had announced plans to lay off 5 per cent of its workforce, or over 100 employees, as part of overall job cuts at the e-commerce giant.
This week, Amazon announced it was laying off hundreds of employees at Twitch, Prime Video, and MGM Studios.
