Washington: There was firing in the US capital on Wednesday, in which one person died and 5 others including 2 children were injured. Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith said the shooting occurred just after 6 p.m. in Carver Langston, Washington. According to investigators, some suspicious persons came out of a vehicle, then started firing at people standing on the road.
Smith said that one adult person was killed in this shooting while two men, a woman and a nine-year-old child were injured. He has been admitted to the hospital. Later a 12-year-old child was also brought to the hospital. It is understood that he was also injured in this firing.
The shooting comes at a time when violent crime has increased sharply in Colombia. There has been a 39 percent increase in violent crimes here in 2023. In Colombia, murders have increased by 35 percent while car thefts have almost doubled. Smith urged lawmakers to pass a law that could curb shootings in the nation’s capital and provide harsher punishment to criminals.
