External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that relations between India and America are at an all-time high and the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take them to a different level. Jaishankar said that these bilateral relations will reach the moon and beyond like Chandrayaan. Addressing hundreds of Indian-Americans who gathered at ‘India House’ from different parts of the US to participate in the ‘Celebrating Colors of Friendship’ program organized by the Indian Embassy here on Saturday, Jaishankar said, “Today there is a clear message. That our relationship is at an all-time high, but as it is said in America, you have not seen anything yet, we are going to take these relations to a different level, a different place,” Jaishankar said. That the success of G20 would not have been possible without America’s cooperation. “When things go well, the host always gets the credit,” he said. This is also appropriate, but it would not have been possible if all G20 member countries did not work for the success of this event.
Jaishankar said amid thunderous applause from Indian-Americans, “I am in this country today, especially because I must say that I am grateful to Washington for the contribution, cooperation and understanding that we got from America to make the G20 a success.” “I would like to be publicly appreciated in DC,” he said. “So, literally it may have been our success, but I think it was the success of the G20 (nations). For me, it was also a success of the India-US partnership… Please continue to give this partnership the support it needs, deserves and expects. I can promise you that these relationships will go to the Moon, maybe even beyond, like Chandrayaan.”
Jaishankar said that human relations between the two countries make this bilateral relationship more unique. “Countries trade with each other,” he said. Countries play politics with each other. They have military relations, they exercise and there is cultural exchange between them, but when there are deep human relations between two countries, it is a completely different situation. This is the important feature of our relations today.” Jaishankar said that NRIs have contributed immensely in building bilateral relations. “It cannot be expressed in words,” he said. It’s on that foundation that we’re looking forward… seeing new hope on the horizon… So, I think when we look on the horizon, we see really wonderful possibilities there and it’s this community that’s bringing them to life. Will make it possible.
The minister said that today’s India is different from the earlier India. He said, “I want to tell you that what I am talking about is really a different India. As you have heard from others, it is India which is capable of completing the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Jaishankar said, “This is the India which was able to organize the most spectacular G20 summit and proved wrong those who said that we would not be able to bring 20 countries together.” This is the India that showed during the COVID-19 pandemic that it can not only take care of its own people but can also extend a helping hand to hundreds of countries around the world. Jaishankar said that today the fastest 5G service is being provided in India. He said that if there is energy in India’s steps today, if there is confidence in its voice, there are many reasons for this. “Because this is the result of 10 years of hard work… there are many areas where our capabilities have doubled or tripled,” the minister said.
