Riyadh, 06 February (HIST). America has renewed efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza. In this regard, US Foreign Minister Antony J. Blinken arrived in Saudi Arabia yesterday on the first leg of his Middle East visit. He discussed with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on stopping the Israel-Hamas conflict that has been going on for almost 123 days. It is noteworthy that America is trying to unite its allies on the proposal to release the hostages in Gaza.
Blinken also discussed with the Crown Prince the interference of Iran-backed militias in the Middle East, The New York Times newspaper reported. Blinken has reached Saudi Arabia for the fifth time since October 7. The meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the need for how to achieve a “permanent end to the crisis in Gaza”. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has shared brief details of the conversation between the two with journalists.
According to the report, Israel is keeping an eye on the efforts of America and Saudi Arabia. Israel awaited a response from Hamas on Monday on its proposal to end fighting in the Gaza Strip and release remaining hostages there. The report said that Hamas is deliberating on this proposal. The United States, Egypt, and Qatar expect a positive response from Hamas.
