US President Joe Biden stumbled and fell on the stage while attending the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in Colorado Springs on Thursday. The video of the President’s fall quickly went viral. According to ABC News, Secret Service agents and an Air Force officer quickly helped him back to his feet.
Once he straightened up, he started walking without stopping. White House communications director Ben LaBolt downplayed the incident, saying on Twitter that the president was not hurt and attributing the fall to an errant sandbag.
LaBolt said He is alright. There was a sandbag on the stage when he was shaking hands. Later, upon his return to the White House, Biden exclaimed, “I got sandbags!” As reporters asked him how he was feeling. He also did “a little footwork” for the press to show he was fit, reports ABC News.

Biden’s top rival in the race for the Oval Office, former President Donald Trump, wasted no time voicing his opinion when the incumbent fell on the stage. Fox News reported that Trump called the flub “not inspiring”.
Trump said “He really fell? Well I hope he didn’t get hurt. You have to be careful about that. Even if you have to go down the ramp. It’s a bad place to fall. It’s not inspiring.
Biden also fumbled at the recent G7 summit in Japan but tripped himself. He was descending a small set of stairs at Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima when his footing wobbled.
At 80, Biden is already the oldest president in history and is seeking a second term. His age and fitness have been a factor in his re-election campaign. Should he win again in 2024. This is yet to be decided.
