Some relatives of Nasrullah have told Pakistan’s Aaj News that Anju is a married woman in India. She was living an independent life and works there. Anju visited the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi and Nasrullah visited the offices of the Foreign and Interior Ministries of Pakistan in Islamabad. Nasrullah says that religion is not a factor in his story. He told BBC Urdu that whether Anju converts to Islam or not is her decision alone and he will respect that decision. Local people have a positive view of Anju in Upper Dir. Nasrullah says that she was the guest and daughter-in-law of the Pakhtuns.
