Shilpak Ambule, High Commissioner of India to Singapore has said that the recently held first ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise (AIME) is a testimony to the deep and historical cultural ties between India and ASEAN countries. The Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) co-hosted the maritime exercise from May 2 to 8. Nine ships, six aircraft and over 1,800 personnel from the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and India participated in the exercise.
ASEAN, a group of ten countries, includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. High Commissioner Ambule on Wednesday said the relationship was further strengthened through vibrant economic ties and a growing sense of a progressive future for all. He said that the ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise is a testimony to the deep and historical cultural ties between India and the ASEAN countries.
