Islamabad. Its top leader Asif Ali Zardari is likely to become the next President of the country for the second time after the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) agreed to form a coalition government with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). ‘The News International’ quoted sources as saying that amid the talks of agreement between PML-N and PPP, “If there is no change in the situation, then the country will see the Prime Minister of PML-N party and the President of PPP.” ”
Even after a week of getting a divided mandate in the elections held on February 8, no government has been formed in the country. There is a possibility of formation of a coalition government in Pakistan due to no major party getting a clear majority. The coming together of these two parties means that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not be able to come to power despite independent candidates supported by jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party getting more seats in Parliament. PPP Chairman Zardari (68) was the President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013. The current President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi is going to leave his post by the end of this month.
The PML-N on Tuesday night named 72-year-old Shehbaz Sharif as its prime ministerial candidate instead of party chief and three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif, 74, was seeking to become prime minister for a record fourth time and returned to Pakistan in October last year after ending self-exile in Britain. PML-N and PPP formed a coalition government at the center along with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), IPP (Istiqam-e-Pakistan Party) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). Have decided to make.
