New Delhi, 21 January (HS). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs 2.56 crore of a former Punjab and Sind Bank official. The Central Investigation Agency has taken this action against the officer who broke the fixed deposits (FD) of more than Rs 52 crore of customers for playing online games.
ED said in a statement issued on Sunday that the immovable property and fixed deposits worth Rs 2.56 crore of Bedanshu Shekhar Mishra, working in the branch of Punjab and Sind Bank located in the Khalsa College campus of ‘North Campus’ of Delhi University, have been seized. According to the central probe agency, the former officer allegedly embezzled fixed deposits of bank customers worth over Rs 52 crore and used the amount to play online games.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, this action has been taken under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This case related to alleged fraud is related to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR between 2021-22. Bedanshu Shekhar Mishra was suspended by the bank in November, 2022 after the alleged fraud came to light.
