Washington: The White House issued a statement saying, ‘The American government cannot accept any type of violence based on color or gender. Every possible effort is being made to stop attacks on Indians and students of Indian origin. It is worth noting that there have been many attacks on students of Indian origin, to stop which the US government has now decided to take strict steps. This year, four Indians lost their lives due to violence in America.
At the same time, the White House issued a statement on Tuesday saying that violence on the basis of color, gender or religion cannot be accepted at any cost. The Biden government is working hard to remove the fear created in the minds of Indian parents living in India and America regarding their children. The government has committed that hard work is being done to deal with this situation. Along with this, while answering a question, Kirby said, ‘The Biden government has prepared a complete blueprint to correct the current situation and stop the attacks on students of Indian origin, which will be implemented on the ground.’
It is noteworthy that earlier this year, five students of Indian origin lost their lives due to violence. At the same time, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also laid special emphasis on the fact that his government is committed to the safety of Indian students living abroad. According to the Open Doors report of November 2023, 25 percent of the total students in the US are students of Indian origin.
According to a report, there has been a 35 percent increase in the number of Indian students going to America for higher education. The academic year 2022-23 witnessed the highest ever number of 2,68,923 students. Last year, the US Consulate in India issued more than 140,000 student visas, more than any other country in the world, setting a record for the third consecutive year.
