In a statement to the media after talks with Prime Minister Modi, Prime Minister Albanese said that the opening of the new diplomatic mission in Bengaluru will help connect the country’s businesses to India’s rapidly growing digital and innovation ecosystem.

The opening of the Consulate General in Bengaluru this month will be Australia’s fifth diplomatic mission in India. Earlier it had Consulates General in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. India currently has three consulates in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Presently there is Honorary Consulate of India in Brisbane. “Extending Australia’s diplomatic ‘footprint’ to Bengaluru will help connect Australian businesses to India’s rapidly growing digital economy and innovation ecosystem,” Albanese said. Our growing ties in science and technology will be strengthened.

Prime Minister Albanese also welcomed India’s plans for a Consulate General in Brisbane. Prime Minister Modi thanked Australia for its support in setting up the Consulate General of India in Brisbane. On the G20, Albanese said he was looking forward to visiting India again to attend the G20 summit. He said, “My minister is regularly traveling to India for G20 discussions.” The two leaders also exchanged MoUs on mobility, migration and green hydrogen workforce.

Albanese, referring to the many meetings he had with Modi several times over the years, said that this development says a lot about the friendship between Australia and India. He said, “I have met Modi six times in the first year of my tenure as the Prime Minister. This shows the importance we attach to the deepening of relations between the two countries. Australia is a better place because of the contribution of the Indian-Australian community and we want to see deeper ties between our countries. ,

Prime Minister Modi also met Governor General of Australia David Hurley and Leader of the Opposition Peter Dutton and discussed people-to-people contacts and strengthening the long-standing bilateral partnership. Prime Minister Modi reached Sydney on Monday for the third and final leg of his three-nation tour. He had traveled to Japan and Papua New Guinea before coming to Australia.
