Karachi. On the occasion of Eid, a bad news has come out from Pakistan. At least 17 people were killed and 38 injured when a bus carrying pilgrims fell into a deep gorge near a border town in Pakistan’s Sindh and Balochistan provinces. Police gave this information on Thursday. The pilgrims were on their way to the remote Muslim Sufi shrine Shah Noorani in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district when their bus fell into a ditch in Hub town on Wednesday. The place where the accident took place is about 100 kilometers away from Karachi.

Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed condolences over the incident and said it seemed the driver lost control at a turn due to which the bus fell into a ditch. All the passengers were residents of Thatta city of Sindh province.

Naqvi said, the vehicle left Thatta around 2 pm on Wednesday and met with an accident around 8 pm on Wednesday night. A local police officer in the hub said the dead and injured were taken to Karachi Civil Hospital. The bodies were identified, some of which belonged to the same family. Bad roads, lack of safety awareness and blatant disregard for traffic rules often lead to fatal accidents in Pakistan.

Accidents are common in Pakistan

It should be mentioned here that road accidents are common in Pakistan and claim many lives daily. Bad roads, lack of safety awareness and blatant disregard for traffic rules often lead to fatal accidents in Pakistan.

In February, at least 10 people were killed and 15 injured when a speeding bus plunged into a ravine in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwestern Pakistan. Police said that due to high speed, the driver lost control while taking a sharp turn and fell into a deep gorge.

In December last year, a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shah Noorani Dargah to Karachi in Balochistan’s Khuzdar caught fire, killing at least one passenger and injuring several others. This accident happened due to the high speed causing the engine of the vehicle to heat up and flames to rise.
