East Pakistan policies for 75 years
This literary festival was organized by Ahmed Shah of Pakistan Art Council, Karachi. As part of the events held in different parts of the country, one of its events was organized in Muzaffarabad. Wustullah, who has also covered the elections in Jammu and Kashmir for the BBC, laid out the Kashmir policy in strong words. In the beginning of his speech, he said that the policies which were for East Pakistan in 1971, are continuing in Kashmir for the last 75 years.
He said, ‘Kashmir is not an issue but an industry for a large political section. The Kashmir Committee is engaged in this industry. Apart from Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, employment of the political class of Azad Kashmir (PoK) is linked with this industry. Then why would I kick myself in the stomach by stating an out-of-the-box solution to this issue.
Cars and money because of Kashmir
He said that it is a question of livelihood. Because of the Kashmir issue, they are getting allowances, vehicles and money from the Center (Islamabad), the administration which is going to Bradford (UK) to explain the Kashmir issue to the Kashmiris. Wustullah directly attacked the government of Pakistan. As soon as he mentioned the failed policies of 75 years, the crowd started shouting slogans. People sitting in the crowd were shouting, ‘This country is ours, we will decide it’. Will take away freedom.
To this Wustullah said, ‘If you have come here with a pre-decided agenda and do not want to listen to us, then we are going back.’ He said that for 75 years similar slogans have been raised and only slogans have been raised. He said that the Kashmir policy is already well laid out and there can be no alternative.
mention of KH Khurshid
After this he took the name of KH Khurshid and said how many people would know what had happened to him. He termed Khurshid as the most truthful person of the area. Wustullah said that Khurshid had served as the President of Azad Kashmir. After this he told, ‘K.H. Khurshid tried to suggest an out-of-the-box solution. His suggestion was that Pakistan should recognize the government of Azad Kashmir as a government-in-exile i.e. the government of Kashmiris.

According to Wustullah, Kashmiris themselves will take their case to international forums and Pakistan should only provide moral support. But since childhood, we have a habit of being maternal uncle in every matter. Khan said sarcastically, ‘Pakistan has been saying ‘how do you know what you want’. Then he says we will tell you what you want. This is Pakistan’s Kashmir policy since 75 years. Whenever Mamaji pestered him, the Kashmir issue got pushed back by 20 years.
