Big action by ED, property worth Rs 538 crore of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal and others seized

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action against Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal and five others in a bank fraud case. ED has seized property worth Rs 538 crore in this case. Earlier on October 31, ED had filed a charge sheet against Naresh Goyal and other accused. This case is related to fraud of Rs 538 crore in Canara Bank. In this case, ED had arrested Naresh Goyal on September 1. He is currently in judicial custody and lodged in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.
According to the statement issued by ED, action has been taken against M/s Jet Airways (India) Limited (JIL) under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002. In this action, assets worth Rs 538.05 crore have been temporarily attached. The attached properties include 17 residential flats/bungalows and commercial campuses in the names of different companies and individuals. Let us tell you that the founder of M/s Jet Airways (India) Limited (JIL) is Naresh Goyal. ED has also named Goyal’s wife Anita Goyal and son Nivan Goyal as accused.
ED has taken this action on the basis of written complaint of Canara Bank. CBI had registered an FIR in this case. ED started investigation on the basis of FIR. In the FIR, allegations of fraud, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and criminal misconduct by M/s Canara Bank were made.
ED investigation revealed that Jet Airways (India) Limited misappropriated loans taken from banks led by SBI and PNB. Naresh Goyal committed financial fraud on a large scale. The balance sheet of Jet Airways was tampered with and loans were written off by making provisions.
