According to the new guidelines, now the crew members will not be able to use many things which a person usually uses in everyday life. The new guidelines issued by DGCA may be very strange for the general public.

Aviation regulator DGCA has issued new guidelines saying that pilots and crew members will be prohibited from using mouthwash, tooth gel or any such substance containing alcohol. DGCA has taken this step with the aim of ensuring that the pilots and support crew of its aircraft pass the medical checkup. Now all products containing alcohol will not be used by the crew. DGCA has issued revised norms in this regard.

Let us tell you that DGCA has issued new guidelines in this regard on Wednesday, November 1st. According to them, now there will be a ban on the use of mouthwash or tooth gel containing alcohol by the crew. With their use, results come positive in breath analyzer test. DGCA has taken this step basically with the intention of making aircraft operations safer.

DGCA said that it has streamlined the provisions of the existing rules based on suggestions received from the aviation industry. However, perfume was also included in its draft but it has not been included in the final list. “No crew member shall consume any medicine/formulation or use mouthwash/tooth gel or any such product which contains alcohol,” the regulator said in its directive issued on October 30. Any crew member taking such medication will have to consult the company physician before taking off.

According to the DGCA, the use of breath analyzer equipment with fuel cell technology has been made mandatory and a process of monitoring and inspection of agencies has been initiated. To facilitate aviation companies, DGCA has expanded the scope of units undergoing breath analyzer testing. Each member of the crew and support staff will be required to undergo a breath test at the airport prior to flight duty.
