Big blow to Air India, DGCA imposed fine of Rs 1.10 crore; Know the whole matter

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 crore on Air India after an airline employee alleged security violations in flights operating on important long-haul routes. An official gave this information on Wednesday.
According to the aviation regulator, the DGCA investigated the alleged violations after receiving a safety report from an airline employee. DGCA said, since the investigation has prima facie revealed non-compliance by the airline, a show cause notice was issued to the Accountable Manager of Air India Limited.
It said, the response to the show cause notice was duly examined in respect of the conditions prescribed under the relevant statutory provisions and the performance limitations prescribed in the key documents prescribed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). DGCA Director General Vikram Dev Dutt said, “Since the operation of the leased aircraft was not in conformance with the regulatory/OEM performance limits, DGCA initiated enforcement action and imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 crore on Air India.
