Big relief given by RBI, now Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged till this date

The last date for exchange of Rs 2000 notes was 30 September (today). However, the Reserve Bank of India extended the deadline on Saturday. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said on Saturday that the deadline has been extended after review. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a notification that since the period specified for the withdrawal process has ended, and on the basis of a review, the present arrangement for depositing/exchange of Rs 2000 bank notes will be extended till October 07, 2023. The decision has been taken.
The Reserve Bank had said on September 1 that 93 percent of the Rs 2000 notes that were in circulation on May 19 have returned to the banks. According to data received from banks, the total value of Rs 2000 bank notes withdrawn from circulation till August 31, 2023 is Rs 3.32 lakh crore, it said in a statement. As a result, Rs 2000 bank notes in circulation at the close of business on August 31, 2023 stood at Rs 0.24 lakh crore. Thus, 93 percent of the Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation are back by May 19, 2023.
