Big uproar is certain in UN, India stakes its claim on permanent seat

India is now becoming more vocal in demanding changes in the United Nations Security Council. India has come a step ahead and is now openly demanding permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. Having only five members as permanent members is a huge threat to the entire world. India has been saying this many times. Now once again India has reiterated this point and presented the demand for permanent membership before the UN. India once again reiterated that there should be changes in the United Nations Security Council.

India has called for reforms in the UN Security Council. Not only this, a demand has been made for a permanent seat for India. India’s Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan has represented India at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Brazil. Speaking at the G20 ministerial meeting under Brazil’s chairmanship, Muraleedharan called for greater global cooperation and commitment on international challenges, advocating sustainable development and multilateral reforms. Reiterating India’s stand, Muraleedharan also reminded the foreign ministers that the G20, as an economic forum, should focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and climate change.

Let us tell you that yesterday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar surprised everyone with his remarkably witty response to a question on India’s permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council during the Raisina Dialogue 2024 in the national capital. Speaking at a session during the conference, Michael Fullilove, executive director of Australia’s Lowy Institute, said UNSC membership could be based on ICC test rankings. In response, Jaishankar said that yes, I think this is called the core of a good idea. But I think the better solution would be to leave it to BCCI.
