Met Police said on Monday that on July 17, Met counter-terrorist detectives investigating alleged membership of a banned organization arrested a 56-year-old man in east London and a 28-year-old Canadian national at Heathrow Airport after boarding a flight.
Chowdhary, 56, was charged by the Metropolitan Police with membership of a banned (banned) organization and addressing meetings to encourage support for a banned organization and giving instructions to a terrorist organization under various sections of the UK’s Terrorism Act 2000. A Canadian national, Khalid Hussain, 28, has also been arrested in a related counter-terrorism investigation on charges of membership of a banned organization.
Met Police said on Monday that on July 17, Met counter-terrorist detectives investigating alleged membership of a banned organization arrested a 56-year-old man in east London and a 28-year-old Canadian national at Heathrow Airport after boarding a flight. He was released in 2018 from London’s high-security Belmarsh Prison, where he had been held after being convicted by London’s Old Bailey court in September 2016 for delivering radical sermons and calling on Muslims to support the terrorist group ISIS.
