New Delhi: This is the first general budget in the 75th year of India’s independence i.e. Amrit Kaal. This is also the last full year budget before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Seven priorities have been enumerated in the budget as ‘Saptarishi’. Under this, inclusive development, last mile connectivity, infrastructure and investment, capacity expansion, green growth, youth power and financial sector have been talked about. The emphasis in the budget is again on achieving economic growth as before and at the same time maintaining fiscal discipline. There are many important things in the budget. One of these is the intention to start a movement for an eco-friendly lifestyle.
India has resolved to achieve the goal of ‘Panchamrit’ and Net Zero Carbon Emission by the year 2070. Due to this, there will be emphasis on environmental protection in industry and economy. This budget has strengthened our resolve about green growth. A massive allocation of Rs 35,000 crore has been made in the budget to achieve the goal of energy transition and net zero carbon emissions. Recently the National Green Hydrogen Mission was launched. Its objective is to promote the use of hydrogen as a clean source of energy in the country. An allocation of Rs 19 thousand 700 crore has been made for this mission in the general budget. This will help in converting the economy into a low carbon economy. Dependence on import of fossil fuels like crude oil and gas will decrease.
Another special feature of the budget is that emphasis has been laid on harnessing and harnessing the potential of the youth. This will help in the progress of the country. To enhance the potential of the youth and help the ‘Amrit Generation’ to fulfill their aspirations, the Government has formulated the National Education Policy. The focus of this policy is to implement such economic policies along with skill development, which will create large scale employment opportunities and increase the possibilities of entrepreneurship. The government is committed to this mission. It has launched a scheme to skill lakhs of youth over the next three years. The government aims to cover Industry 4.0 courses like coding, AI, robotics under its ambit. This will help in creating employment opportunities in the country.
Research and innovation in the pharma sector has got a big boost from this budget. India will be stronger globally in terms of developing and manufacturing medicines. Every important aspect of national development has been taken care of in this budget. Steps like making agriculture more eco-friendly and making substantial allocation for bio gas development are very good. This will help in harnessing the potential of India, which is not getting the benefit as of now.
Changes in fertilizer manufacturing will make it a more environmentally balanced affair. This shows how much attention India is paying to improve its carbon footprint. Emphasis is being laid on becoming a global hub for millets. The infrastructure required for this is being given very good attention. An allocation of Rs 20,000 crore has been made for the special project of renewable energy in Ladakh. This is also a very good step. This will have a very positive impact in terms of moving towards the use of clean energy. Replacing polluting old government vehicles will benefit our efforts to keep the air clean.
Despite the challenging economic environment, the Finance Minister has presented a forward-looking budget. Whether it is more emphasis on inclusive development or infrastructure development or harnessing the full potential of the youth, the steps proposed in the Union Budget will lead to sustainable economic growth in the months and years to come.
