Let us tell you that the Center is working on the 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR (High Speed Rail) project, which will initially cover Surat-Bilimora in Gujarat, and the entire extension is expected to be completed in 2028.

According to reports, India is expected to seal the deal to purchase 24 E5 series Shinkansen trains (bullet trains) from Japan by the end of March. The minister further informed that work on a 284 km stretch of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR (High Speed Rail) project has already been completed. “Bullet trains are not just about travel and journeys, they will be a big boost to the economy,” Vaishnav said. In his address, the Minister pointed out three things that have helped Indian Railways rapidly upgrade its technology. 1- Increase in funding of Indian Railways, 2- Systematic planning for future maintenance of railway technology, 3- Depoliticization of Indian Railways.

The Railway Minister said that in the 10 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, “practically all the states have been electrified.” He said that in the 10 years of the Modi government, electrification of 40,000 kilometers has been done, whereas in the previous 60 years, 20,000 kilometers were electrified. Also, new tracks have been laid on 30,000 kilometers. He said that we have added railway tracks equivalent to the entire railway network of Germany and we are adding almost a Switzerland’s worth of railway network every year.
