Bus falls into Nepal’s Trishuli river, eight killed and 15 injured in accident

Kathmandu : A passenger bus skidded off a main highway and fell into a river in Nepal’s Bagmati province on Wednesday, killing at least eight people and injuring around 15 others. According to the report of myrepublica.com, the accident happened when the bus going from Kathmandu to Pokhara lost control and fell into the Trishuli river in Chalise area of Dhading district of Bagmati province.
The report quoted Deputy Superintendent of Police Santulal Prasad Jaiswar of the District Police Office as saying that at least eight people have died and 15 others have been injured in the accident. The death toll may increase. Rescue work is going on. According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, the bus was partially submerged in the Trishuli river after the accident, but the rescuers were able to rescue the passengers alive from the spot. Due to rain in Nepal, this river is in spate.
The bus was going from Kathmandu to Pokhara
According to media reports, a passenger bus going from Kathmandu to Pokhara fell into Trishuli river in Nepal’s Dhading district today, killing eight people and injuring 19. The bus met with an accident early in the morning in Gajuri Rural Municipality area. The death of 8 people has been confirmed in this incident, while 19 people have been injured.
Police search operation continues
Dhading Police Chief SP Gautam Mishra said that the search operation for the rest of the passengers is going on. He told that near Gajuri waterfall, the bus got off the road and fell into the Trishuli river. He said that senior police constable Surbir Bumi of Regional Police Office, Gajuri told that policemen have been deputed for rescue. Sharmila Bisural, vice-president of Gajuri Rural Municipality, said that half of the bus was submerged in water.
Seriously injured people sent to Kathmandu
Dhading police chief SP Mishra further said that 13 seriously injured people have been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment, while other injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Gajuri Hospital. Mishra said that the police are yet to ascertain the total number of passengers in the bus and details regarding the incident are yet to come.
