Case registered against Indian citizen for causing loss worth lakhs to Nepal government

A corruption case has been registered against an Indian national for forging documents to acquire title to a piece of land owned by the Nepalese government and causing a loss of over Nepali rupees 54 million to the government exchequer.
An official gave this information on Thursday. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Thursday registered a case against Anoop Mehra and demanded payment of Nepalese rupees 5.54 crore.
According to CIAA spokesperson Bhola Dahal, Mehra is accused of acquiring wealth by selling a piece of land owned by the Nepal government through fake documents and causing a loss of more than 54 million Nepali rupees to the government.
Mehra had also influenced the head of the land reforms office of Nawalparsi to prepare a fake document in his favor and take ownership of the land. After this he sold the piece of land to a third party.
A charge sheet has been filed against Mehra for his involvement in corruption in CIAA that caused loss of crores of rupees to the government. However, the Indian citizen is still absconding.
