China and US commerce ministers meet

Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wantao meets with visiting US Commerce Secretary Gina Raymond in Beijing on August 28. The two sides held discreet, open and constructive talks on China-US economic and trade relations and other issues of common interest.
Wang Wantao said that economic and trade relations are the foundation of China-US relations. Trade between the two countries is important not only for their own economy, but also for the world economy. China is willing to work with the United States to create a better environment for commercial cooperation between the two countries on the principle of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, cooperation and win-win, so as to promote bilateral trade and investment.
Wang Wanthao and Raymond stressed the importance of open and successful dialogue between China and the United States in the economic and trade fields, and announced the establishment of a new way of communication between the ministries of commerce. For this, both sides will set up a working group and hold deputy ministerial level conferences twice every year. Both the ministers also agreed to meet at least once every year.
