China criticizes new President of Czech Republic for talks with Taiwan

Traditionally, we have good economic, educational and research relations with democratic Taiwan. It is also important to respect that China is an important Asian trading partner. We stick to our tradition and we are emphasizing on the need to protect shared democratic values.
Earlier, Taiwan’s official ‘Central News Agency’ quoted presidential spokesman Lin Yu-chan as saying that in the conversation, President Tsai Ing-wen said that “Taiwan and the Czech Republic have deep ties and both share freedom, democracy and We share the values of human rights.” Lin is quoted as saying, “Based on cordial relations, Taiwan’s government with the Czech Republic is committed to enhancing the cooperation in semiconductor design, connecting fresh talent in new technology, and reorganizing the supply chain.” In the past, China has threatened retaliation against countries that seek closer ties with Taiwan, but its attempts to intimidate Europe, Japan, the United States and The opposite reaction has arisen in other major economies.
