Was launched in May 2022
In May 2022, China launched Zhu Hai Yun. It has recently arrived for the first time at Zhuhai Port located in Guangdong province of southern China. The ship is ready for operation after about one and a half years. The delivery of the ship after eight months is being termed as a major achievement for the Chinese military. It is China’s first ship to be known as a System Scientific Research Ship, equipped with fully autonomous navigation and remote control functions.
equipped with remote control
The ship’s remote control means it can navigate itself on open waterways completely independently. This drone carrier has been designed under the supervision of Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory. It has also been given the certificate of being the first intelligent ship by the China Classification Society (CCS). China says that this drone carrier will conduct a scientific study on the ocean. According to the Global Times, some tests will also be done from the ship. The ship has reached the port after several trials.
power of artificial intelligence
What sets this ship apart from the rest is that it is equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is considered to be a part of the fourth revolution, which is going to be a more dangerous technology than a weapon. This drone carrier proves that China has started using it extensively for military and civilian purposes.
naval weapon
This drone carrier weighs 2000 tonnes and is 88.5 meters long. In one hour it can achieve a speed of 18 knots i.e. 33 km. If experts are to be believed, it can launch multiple drones at once for research and espionage. There is a possibility that China can use it as per its wish in any field. So far China has not called it a military ship but it is believed that it can become a major weapon of the Chinese Navy.
