The Global Times report states that the two ‘Type 054A/P’ ships have been supplied by China. This indicates that all four warships of this class have been inducted into the Pakistan Navy. The ships, named PNS Tipu Sultan and PNS Shah Jahan, were commissioned into the Navy on Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Hudong Zhongguong Shipyard in Shanghai, the newspaper reported. Pakistan Navy Chief M Amjad Khan Niazi, who is on a visit to China, said on the occasion that a new chapter of trust, respect and mutual cooperation has begun between the two countries.
close friend of pakistan
China has long been an economic and defense partner of Islamabad. In 2016, Pakistan signed a $5 billion deal with China. Under this, by the year 2028, eight Chinese Yuan-class Type-041 diesel submarines were contracted. Its purpose was to remove the ‘imbalance of power’ with arch-rival India. Pakistan is an important partner in China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) is a $50 billion project under the BRI.
China, Pakistan friendship
Apart from the frigates, another blow has been given to India by the China-Pakistan alliance. China objected to India’s proposal to blacklist Abdul Rauf Azhar, a terrorist of Pakistan’s terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, in the United Nations Security Council. Abdul Rauf Azhar is the brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar and was born in 1974 in Pakistan. He has been involved in planning and executing several terrorist attacks in India. These include the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC 814, the 2001 attack on Parliament, and the 2016 attack on the Air Force base in Pathankot.
